Meet Jen

I am so excited. I finally found a running partner. While I know I could do the training all by myself, someone to do it with, just makes it more fun. I noticed my neighbor had updated her status on FB that she had run 3 miles. Hmmm. I didn't know she ran. So the next time I saw her outside, I threw out "Hey, want to do a half marathon with me?" With a shrug of her shoulders she said "sure". And so here we go. We ran together for the first time this week at 5:15 am. It was great, we said good morning, popped in our ipods, and off we went. We're pretty much the same pace, too. And an hour later, we had run 4 miles and then hit the showers for work. I finally found someone who is as excited about running as I am. We mapped a couple of routes through the neighborhood, I told her about the Marathoning book I'm reading, and we talked about running clothes, of course. Who knew, I had such a kindred spirit living just 500 ft away. Now we're trying to get our husbands to get in on the action. Her husband, Sonny, has already caught the bug. Andy has started running too, but doesn't think he'll attempt this first one. I'm really proud of him.

I did 5 miles today for my long run. It was great! I've got to figure out how to fit in 3 miles next weekend in Colorado between a wedding and a rehersal dinner. Good thing its a cutback week.

  1. That is so great you met a running buddy in your neighborhood! And who is getting married in CO? Wish we could connect but it sounds like you will be really busy. Happy trails!
